The junior high this month will be hosting multiple fundraisers in an attempt to raise their goal of $1,000 to go towards building a well in South Sudan. This is a project called the Iron Giraffe Challenge.
The Iron Giraffe Challenge is a nation-wide challenge set in place by Salva Dut and a group of his friends. What began as a project to raise the money to put a singular well in place in large South Sudan village. Today, however, the project has raised enough money to have over 300 operating wells built in South Sudan. This project, and the lives improved by it, could not be possible without the 214 schools that have taken the pledge to help raise money, and Arlington middle school has decided to take the pledge as well this year.
