This past weekend was the Arlington Arts Fest. Friday evening, the junior high choir opened the night with an amazing rendition of a plethora of Disney songs. Multiple students had both choral and dancing solos, and each and every one did absolutely amazing. Then, the Arlington Select Ensemble came out with a version of Back to the 50’s, showcasing the top songs from the 1950s. People flipped, jumped, danced and sang their hearts out. After finished with an all feminine voiced version of “Why Do Fools Fall in Love” and an all masculine voiced version of “Heart and Soul,” the full high school choir took the stage to perform select songs from “Only in America,” a show showcasing the top songs from the past 5 decades. Again, people sang and danced to their heart’s content. Audience members were brought out to waltz with their friends and families. Multiple soloists performed and the night ended in a standing ovation (for both the high school and the junior high.)
Then, on Saturday night, the band performed, from 5th grade all the way to the high school. After the finishing of the concert bamd, the high school band played the Alma Mater as Jasper Hankins directed. Senior after senior walked to the table, set down their instrument, and picked up a rose. The night ended, as per the usual, in tears, but positive nonetheless.
We are forever proud of our musicians and performers at our school, and we encourage all the performers or potential performers to continue what they’re doing here at Arlington!
