September Senior of the Month

Leah Durliat

Family

Leah is the daughter of Craig and Denise Durliat and has three older siblings, Zach, Amber, and Emily. Leah’s favorite childhood memory was traveling to Disney World when she was two. She had a blast meeting the Disney characters, except Tigger. His whiskers were too scary! Her beloved family tradition was Grandma and Grandpa Camp during the summer. Leah along with her siblings and cousins on her dad’s side of the family would go to their grandparents’ home and complete a variety of activities. They would help with chores, play card games, watch movies, and go on a field trip. Some of their field trips included the Dum Dum factory, Put-in- Bay, Imagination Station, bowling, and the Wilson football factory.

Leah’s role model is Coach Brandon Kisseberth…

“He cares about every one of his players, he listens to us, he takes time to understand how we learn, he is a very competitive person and he expects the best from us on and off the court. He also has a fun side which is reassuring to know you are allowed to have fun. I have spent many hours talking to him about basketball, my future, and many life lessons he has learned (from all of his mistakes in life lol). He also has the cutest daughter Peyton so that helps everyone like him more!”

Extracurricular Activities and Volunteering

Leah is a three sport athlete who plays volleyball, basketball, and softball. She is a member of the marching and concert band, Loud Crowd, National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, Student Council, Media Writing, 4-H, and she is a class officer.  Leah has volunteered at Vacation Bible School at her church, concessions, and cleans up trash after every home football game.

Enjoyment and the Future….

In her spare time, Leah can be found reading or shopping. She read 9 books this past summer! Her favorite high school memory was when Leah, Madi Russell, and Cami Settlage went out for food in Bluffton after a boys’ basketball game. They couldn’t decide on just one place to eat, so they went to a few places to get their food and proceeded to have a picnic in Leah’s trunk at Taco Bell. Of course their adventure included the making of a dance TikTok. A police officer pulled up and asked them what dance they were doing. For a hot minute, they thought they were going to get in trouble. Luckily, the police officer continued on his way.

Leah is looking forward to creating more memories with her friends and classmates. She is also excited about all the upcoming sports seasons she participates in. Leah loves math and is considering a few career paths that involve mathematics. She has not made a decision yet, but is contemplating going into accounting and finance or even becoming a math teacher!

Congratulations and best wishes Leah!
